Ladies Team -
A brief history

Formed originally from the Beacon School (now a Sports Community College) Under-14 girls team, the Club joined the South East Counties League in September 1991, finishing in 8th place in Division Three. Due to the demand, the women's section immediately formed a Reserve team who were to compete in the League the following season.

The 1992/93 season saw the 1st Team finish as runners-up in Division Three and also as top scorers in the League with 149 goals in 18 games. The players ranged in age from 11 to 27 (FA Rules now require players to be 16 years old to play adult Status football).

In 1994-95 we won the Division Two Championship and Chairman's Cup "double", losing only two games in the process, and progressed to the Semi Final of the County Cup, losing narrowly 1-2 to FA Premier League side Horsham.

In 1998 the 1st Team gained promotion to the newly formed South East Combination League which covered the entire South East, Greater London and Eastern regions, and remained at that level for three seasons, meeting the women's teams of Chelsea, Fulham, Watford, Norwich City, Northampton Town and West Ham United during that time. In fact on 20th August 2000 they made history as they took part in the first English women's fixture against professional opposition when playing Fulham in their opening League game.

At the end of the 00/01 season the 1st Team were relegated back to the South East Counties League Premier Division, but gained promotion to the newly-formed London & South East Regional League in April 2005, as well as reaching the SE Counties League Cup Final where they narrowly lost 2-1 to 'double' winners Woking.

A number of Crowborough players have been selected to represent both the League and County over the years, with all-time top scorer Tracey Chapman securing a contract to play semi-professionally in Sweden during the mid-90s.

With the setting up of the new girls' section, we hope to further establish ourselves as one of the premier clubs for female players in the South East.
